1991: This was the first RAAM that I didn't go across with since 1985. I spent the Summer living in Penticton, BC, Canada, instead, creating and then producing and directing a three day triathlon stage race called Earth Journey. This was my next step in my race directing career, following serving as the Race Director of the 1989 HPV Team RAAM and taking over as Race Director and Promoter of the RAAM Open West in 1990. But, I was a coach and sponsor to a Floridian racer named Mary Burns who I had met when she qualified at that first RAAM Open West which I had produced. I also coached her for the Iditasport, which she and I both competed in that February.
