1990: The race moved to a new, southerly route that would end in Savannah, GA (for the next ten years, in fact) and I was saddled up in a car with Joe Heil as the Route Directors. We stayed just ahead of the lead racers to scout for routing problems and to welcome and thank the Time Station volunteers. We had decided after the 1989 race that HPVs were too insane to involve again in RAAM, so 1990 and 1991 had just the main event, the solo race.
