A Thundering Herd

It wasn't long until the four-man Team Bison appeared to take permanent control of the race. Each rider thundered on with passion, bent over their aerobars, intent and successful on eclipsing all other four-person teams.

The Palms Restaurant, just 16 miles before the finish line, sports a huge buffalo on its sign. Team Bison, hailing from Bakersfield and Santa Barbara, saw the sign appear on the horizon as they made their final push to Twenty Nine Palms. Certainly, the buffalo gave them the final morale boost that they needed to beat the midday heat and break the tape.
