A New Day Dawns

With the new sunrise comes the infusion of energy and renewed hope for weary riders. As the light peeks over the morning horizon, William "Praying Mantis" Pratt-Steele's pace seems to quicken slightly. Setting a blistering pace out of Shoshone, the Flying Dane, Stig "Snow Owl" Lundgaard looks none the worse for wear.

At 6'8" tall, Brandon "Centaur" Bruce is undoubtedly the tallest rider ever to tackle the Furnace Creek 508. Riding a custom steel Gunnar bike, the Centaur rides with a fluid cadence that seems almost out of character for a man of his size.

Sometimes, a phone call home can lift the spirits more than a can of Coke or another energy bar. That's exactly what Timothy "Werewolf" Woudenberg did in the middle of the night at the Furnace Creek Time Station. Although we're not exactly sure who was on the other end of the line, we hope that Werewolf's brief conversation was good midnight motivation.
