1988: I raced again in 1988, but had a miserable experience. If you want the gory details, click here. (For some odd reason, after publishing over 200 articles, I have still never written about the RAAM that I did finish, in 1987.) But still, I learned a lot and it did help to move my career, as a cyclist, as a writer, and as a human being, forward. Here's the back of the official race shirt. As in 1987, we raced from the Golden Gate Bridge to Washington Monument. What a cool design!
